15 years old! That's the magic number for boys in many Danish provincial towns – the age when they can finally get their scooter license, hop onto their very own ride, and speed headfirst into teenage life.

The scooter license isn't just a ticket to speed and thrills; it's a symbol of freedom. Freedom from relying on parents. Freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want. Freedom to spend all your time with the people you choose.

For many young people in rural Denmark, the scooter is a rite of passage – a tool that turns them into heroes. Like modern-day Easy Riders, these boys discover the power to chart their own paths. And just as girls form special bonds through horses, the bond among boys and their scooters is something entirely unique. Across their rides, they forge friendships, share stories, and build relationships that stick. But this golden era is fleeting. It lasts only three years, ending at 18, when the scooter license is exchanged for a car and the adult world takes over. The scooter license is swapped for a driver's license, and for many, adulthood begins. Yet those three golden years - burning rubber with friends in parking lots - are unforgettable.

Scooter Boys is a story of speed, friendship, and the fragile beauty of growing up. It takes us under the helmets and into the hearts of a group of young men, revealing their hopes, fears, and dreams - far beyond the hum of their scooters.
